BBC Studios have announced the launch of their high definition channel BBC Prime in Turkey via Türk Telekom’s Tivibu platform from 27th May, with Doctor Who featuring prominently on the new service:

Doctor Who kicks off on the channel with a complete run of Peter Capaldi's last series during the afternoon/evening, leading up to the premiere of The Woman Who Fell To Earth. The channel then continues to show Series 11 alongside the rest of the Doctor's high definition adventures over the following weeks (which includes the upscaled special The Next Doctor). Doctor Who has been available in Turkey in standard definition for a number of years via BBC Entertainment Europe (currently broadcasting Series 10).

Doctor Who has been nominated for a BAFTA award as the Must See moment on television in 2018.

The episode Rosa has been nominated for its portrayal of the moment in history when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama. The episode won plaudits when first shown last year.

The episode is competing against The Bodyguard, where Julia Montague was assassinated, Coronation Street and Gail’s monologue on the suicide of Aidan Connor, Killing Eve where Eve stabs Villanelle and the finale of Peter Kay’s Car Share.

The award will be presented at the Virgin Media BAFTAs on 1st May. It’s the only award voted for by the public, celebrating the massive television moments that got the whole country talking.

The Doctor Who episode Rosa has been awarded the Visionary Arts Organisation Award for Television Show of the Year.

The new awarda are given to celebrate culture, media and entertainment that have made a positive social impact via film, television, music, theatre, literature, radio/online and grassroots community.

Rosa, the third Doctor Who episode starring Jodie Whittaker as the Thirtenth Doctor, featured Vinette Robinson as the American civil rights icon Rosa Parks, who changed history when she refused to relinquish her seat in the colored section of a Bus to a white passenger.

The episode, written by Malorie Blackman and Chris Chibnall won plaudits on its transmission last October. The writers were there to accept the award this evening at a ceremony at BAFTA in London.

Malorie Blackman wrote on twitter. The episode beat Save Me, Kiri, First Dates, Eastenders and There She Goes to win the award.

The Visionary Arts Organisation and Visionary Honours were founded by Adrian Grant, creator of the hit Michael Jackson musical, Thriller Live. It is his goal to see a more unified peaceful society that works together to create diverse opportunities, break down barriers, and allow young people to dream, achieve and succeed.

Doctor Who was the fourth most popular show on the BBC iPlayer in 2018, according to figures released by the corporation.

Jodie Whittaker's debut The Woman Who Fell to Earth had nearly four million requests on the online platform.

The most popular show of the year was Bodyguard, with the first episode becoming BBC iPlayer’s biggest ever programme, with 10.8 million requests across the year. All six episodes of the drama appear in iPlayer’s top ten programmes of the year. Hit Killing Eve came a close second with 9.2m requests for episode one, followed by global thriller McMafia, with 4.7m requests.

Overall in 2018 3.6 billion programmes were requested on iPlayer throughout the year.

Doctor Who: Resolution had an official rating of 7.13 million viewers, according to figures released by the Broadcasting Research Audience Board, BARB.

6.95 million watched the episode on a conventional TV set. However the BARB 4-Screen Dashboard shows that an additional 73,000 watched on their PC, 54,000 watched on a Tablet device and 44,000 watched on a smartphone These figures make Doctor Who the 14th most watched programme of the week ending 6th January.

Top for the week was the New Year Fireworks on BBC One getting 12.27 million watching.

The final rating is the lowest consolidated rating for a Christmas/New Year special since the series returned in 2005.

Resolution had an Appreciation Index score of 80

Doctor Who: Resolution was watched by 5.15 million viewers, a share of 22.4% of the total TV audience, according to unofficial overnight figures.

The rating makes Doctor Who the fourth highest rated programme for New Year's Day. Top was the BBC One Drama Luther with 5.63 million watching. On ITV two programmes edged above the Doctor, Coronation Street had 5.39 million watching, while Emmerdale had 5.17 million. EastEnders had 4.74 million viewers and the Mrs Brown's Boys New Year Special had 5.06 million watching.

The return of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? had 3.39 million viewers, but was beaten by Bradley Walsh in The Chase with 3.86 million.

Final figures should be available next week, which will include those who recorded the programme and watched it later.

6.48 million watched the episode on a conventional TV set. However the BARB 4-Screen Dashboard shows that an additional 73,000 watched on their PC, 51,000 watched on a Tablet device and 44,000 watched on a smartphone These figures make Doctor Who the 18th most watched programme of the week ending 2nd December.

Top for the week was Sunday's final of I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here getting 13.04 million watching.

Doctor Who in 2018 had an average consolidated audience of 7.96 million viewers. This is the highest year average since 2013, which was boosted by including the 50th Anniversary special.

The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos had an Appreciation Index score of 79

Silva Screen Records have announced they will be releasing the Doctor Who Series 11 Soundtrack in January 2019

The music from the series, composed by Segun Akinola, will be available on CD and on streaming services from 11 January.

The recently completed Series 11 marked the arrival of the Thirteenth Doctor, award-winning actress Jodie Whittaker.

Segun Akinola is a multi-talented composer whose work includes scoring BBC Two’s landmark four-part series Black and British: A Forgotten History, written and presented by Historian David Olusoga. He also scored Shola Amoo’s debut feature film A Moving Image, which had its world premiere at the 2016 LA Film Festival.

The soundtrack is available for pre-order on Amazon.

Doctor Who: It Takes You Away had an official rating of 6.42 million viewers, according to figures released by the Broadcasting Research Audience Board, BARB.

6.24 million watched the episode on a conventional TV set. However the BARB 4-Screen Dashboard shows that an additional 77,000 watched on their PC, 55,000 watched on a Tablet device and 47,000 watched on a smartphone These figures make Doctor Who the 22nd most watched programme of the week ending 2nd December.

Top for the week was Monday's edition of I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here getting 12.66 million watching.

It Takes You Away had an Appreciation Index score of 80

Doctor Who: The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos was watched by 5.32 million viewers, a share of 26.4% of the total TV audience, according to unofficial overnight figures.

The rating makes Doctor Who the fourth highest rated programme for Sunday and the 21st for the week ending 9th December.

Highest for the day and the week was the final of ITV’s celebrity show, I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here which had 11.06 million watching. All 7 editions of the programme were in the top ten for the week. Strictly Come Dancing - Results Show had 8.98 million viewers, while Dynasties, the David Attenborough series had 6.33 million. The BBC Drama Care had 2.57 million.

Coronation Street and Emmerdale pushed The Doctor down in the weekly chart, although a top twenty place is likley when final figures are releaed next week.
