Further Husbands of River Song broadcasts confirmed

Of the other channels which have been showing Series 9 this year, FX in India reach Hell Bent on the 20th December, but whether they intend to broadcast The Husbands of River Song the following weekend is unknown at present (this was later confirmed to be the 27th at 11:00pm local time); similarly, Denmark's DR3 are expected to complete Series 9 in early January, and may well show the Christmas special afterwards.

FRANCE4 in France will kick off Series 9 on 26th December; RAI4 in Italy is also expected to show the series in the next few weeks. Both channels will be dubbed into their respective languages.

The Magician's Apprentice: further BBC Worldwide confirmations

Peter Capaldi as The Doctor (Credit: BBC / David Venni)BBC Worldwide have confirmed the broadcast of series premiere The Magician's Apprentice in some more of their worldwide schedules.

The Far East will get to see the latest adventures of the Doctor and Clara only a few hours after the United Kingdom, with BBC Asia confirming that it will show the episode on Saturday 20th September at 10:00am (3:00am UK time). The series will be shown on BBC Entertainment at both 10:00am and a prime-time 8:15pm, with various repeats throughout the week thereafter. The channel is currently available in Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Burma, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.

Belgium and the Netherlands will see The Magician's Apprentice a couple of days later, as BBC First air the premiere prime-time on Monday 22nd September at 9:00pm; as with BBC Asia the episode will be repeated several times during the week before the next episode airs.

Poland: Doctor Who on Sundays at 6:00pm

The Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and Clara (Jenna Coleman) (Credit: BBC)Poland is the latest country to have the new series scheduled, with the premiere of Deep Breath on the BBC Entertainment channel being broadcast on Sunday 24th August at 6:00pm, with each subsequent episode at the same time over the following weeks.

Update 21st August: BBC Polska have since announced an additional broadcast which will be simulcast with the United Kingdom premiere!

This brings the currently known channels broadcasting Peter Capaldi's first series to nine, with the premiere dates listed below:

Poland And South Africa On Fast Track For New Episodes

Poland and South Africa will get the second part of Series 7 the day after each of the eight episodes is shown in the UK, it was announced today by BBC Worldwide.

The episodes will air on BBC Entertainment, starting on Sunday 31st March at 6pm in Poland and 7pm in South Africa.

, the vice-president of programming for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at BBC Worldwide Channels, said:
It's a very important part of our programming strategy to bring our acquired content to air as close to its UK transmission as possible. Doctor Who is a hugely popular programme and I'm delighted we are able to bring the Doctor's latest adventures to Polish and South African audiences just one day after the UK premiere transmission.
BBC America and SPACE in Canada will be launching the second part of Series 7 on Saturday 30th March in line with the UK.

Doctor Who Children's Books for America

Diamond Comic Distributors have announced a distribution deal with Penguin Books UK to enable them to publish the successful Doctor Who Children's Books in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Penguin Books UK have published a large number of books and novels in its Doctor Who young adult and children's line, including titles like Monstrous Missions, Step Back in Time and Alien Adventures, the Doctor Who Activity Book, and Where's The Doctor?. The new deal brings the range to American comic book specialty stores, bookstores, mass-market merchandisers, libraries and other outlets.

Bill Schanes, VP-Purchasing for Diamond Comic Distributors, said:
Doctor Who has been one of the growing brand licenses for Diamond and we’re happy to be selling the Penguin Books UK line in North America. These books haven’t been directly available from any U.S. source except for those that might have imported a small quantity.
Juliet Matthews, Penguin UK’s Media and Entertainment Publisher, said:
We're excited to be working with Diamond. The growing audience of Doctor Who fans in the U.S. makes it an ideal partnership to extend our reach.

Doctor Who returns to Germany this December when Series Five begins broadcasting on the pay TV FOX Channel.

The first episode Fünf vor zwölf, which translates as Five to Twelve will screen on the channel on 21st December at 8.15pm CET with episode two following later the same evening. The network has launched a website to tie in with the series

Series 5 will also be made available on iTunes Germany in both German and English beginning December 22nd.

German fans have yet to see broadcast the third and fourth series starring David Tennant.

Meanwhile Televisió de Catalunya, has begun transmitting series 6 in Catalan on Canal 3XL. The series continues this Friday with La maledicció de la taca negra.

Doctor Who: Series Six in Spain

The sixth series of Doctor Who has arrived in Spain, with Syfy España broadcasting episodes on Monday evenings, dubbed into Spanish; the series kicked off last Monday with El astronauta imposible and continues tonight with El dia de la Luna at 9:30pm (CEST), repeated tomorrow at 5:00pm and Saturday at 11:00am.

Doctor Who at Comic Con France

The third annual French Comic Con kicks off today at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center, and as reported last month will feature a number of Doctor Who related activities, not least being the French debut of opening two episodes of Series Six, The Impossible Astronaut and Day of the Moon.

The two episodes will centre-case the Sunday proceedings featuring the event's Guest of Honour, Steven Moffat; from 11:30am there will be a masterclass by Doctor Who's head writer, followed by episodes themselves from 12:30pm. Afterwards Moffat will feature in a Doctor Who conference (2:30pm), followed by a signing session from 4:00pm.

Selected episodes of Doctor Who written by Moffat will also be screened, with Les Anges Pleureurs (Blink) today at 4:00pm, and La Bibliothèque des Ombres (Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead) tomorrow from 12:30pm.

Saturday is dedicated to Moffat's other successful series, Sherlock, which has also been translated into French. A conference on the dub takes place from midday with Roland Timsit (artistic director) and Gilles Morvan (voice of Sherlock Holmes); this is then followed by a signing session from 1:30pm and then a screening of the first episode, Une Etude en Rose (A Study in Pink) at 2:45pm.

Comic Con France to premiere Series Six

The third annual French Comic Con takes place at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center between the 30th June and 3rd July, during which the two opening episodes of Series Six, The Impossible Astronaut and Day of the Moon, will make their French debut.

The two episodes form part of a series of events taking place around special Guest of Honour, Doctor Who's head writer Steven Moffat; timings have yet to be confirmed, but include:
  • a public Masterclass on his work as a scriptwriter
  • a public meeting on Doctor Who
  • a signing session
  • the screening of the French premiere of the first two episodes of Series Six
  • a screening of A Study In Pink, the first episode of Moffat's other creation, Sherlock

Docteur Who: Saison 5 finale ratings

This weekend saw the finale of Doctor Who broadcast on France 4, with Le Pandorica s'ouvre achieving 340,000 viewers, a further improvement on last week's episodes and achieving a share of 1.5% of the total audience.

Danse avec les stars continued to top the ratings on TF1, with 5.12m tuning in (24.7%); France 2 this week broadcast Champs-Elysées, which was watched by 3.75m viewers (17.5%). A full breakdown can be found at Premiere.
