Karen Gillan commented on how she'd like to see her character Amy leave the series: "Death would be an option. David Tennant can be heard in a new thirteen-part play to be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 between 18th-25th September; Life And Fate sees him star alongside Kenneth Branagh in an adaptation of Vasily Grossman's book centred around the battle of Stalingrad, and charting the fate of both a nation and a family in the turmoil of war. The pair can also be seen introducing their characters and what makes a radio play special on YouTube. [BBC Radio 4 details]

John Barrowman has made it clear he'd like to be involved in Doctor Who's anniversary: "It's the 50th anniversary coming up of 'Doctor Who' and Jack is an integral part to this story and, if I'm going to be a little self-absorbed, I would hope he would be involved, it would be a shame if he wasn't. I don't think it's a question of whether I would like to come back as Captain Jack, I'd be very happy to do that any time. I know the fans would really like that. But it's a decision left up to the BBC and the drama department. So like I've said to all the fans you need to write to them if you want it to happen because I've never been asked. A new audio drama featuring the vocal talents of two former Doctors has just been released.

The Minister of Chance is described as a new form of entertainment, a radiophonic drama, made using a combination of film and radio techniques and delivered by podcast.

The series, which has won rave reviews from industry insiders, boasts an impressive cast with the Seventh Doctor, Sylvester McCoy playing The Witch Prime and the Eighth Doctor, Paul McGann playing Durian.

Julian Wadham of The English Patient and The Madness of King George, plays The Minister, Jenny Agutter plays Professor Cantha and Paul Darrow plays Lord Rathen. The cast also features Gethin Anthony, Lauren Crace, Stuart Fox, Peter Guinness, Lloyd Hutchinson, Mark Lewis and Jay Taylor.

The character of the Minister of Chance first appeared in Death Comes to Time, a BBC Doctor Who webcast first broadcast on the BBCi Cult website in the summer of 2001, where the character was played by Stephen Fry.

Six episodes of this new series, which does not feature the character of The Doctor, are planned, of which the first two have been recorded. The completion of the series depends on the success of these episodes. A prologue and the first episode, The Broken World, can be downloaded now.

Peter Davison stars as the Fifth Doctor in The Council of Nicaea, in which he, Peri (Nicola Bryant) and Erimem (Caroline Morris) become embroiled in events in the year 325AD.

In Exotron, the Fifth Doctor and Peri land on a distant colony that is being terrorized by indigenous predators. This three-part adventure is accompanied by the one-part story Urban Myths.

In The Wishing Beast the Sixth Doctor (Colin Baker) and Mel (Bonnie Langford) meet a pair of elderly sisters on an asteroid. This three-part story is joined by the one-part The Vanity Box.

Red stars Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor and Bonnie Langford as Mel, while McCoy goes solo in Valhalla – up against giant termites on Callisto.

Also available for a fiver for a limited time are the three audio adaptations of the Doctor Who stageplays: The Ultimate Adventure, Seven Keys to Doomsday and Curse of the Daleks.

Former Doctor David Tennant joined a number of celebrities (including current James Bond actor Daniel Craig and singer Geri Halliwell) who took to the ICAP trading floor in order to raise money for Prince Charles's charities, Youth Business International and Prince's Teaching Institute.

Having announced having a role in the forthcoming The Hobbit film back in October, the official press conference for the film formally confirms Sylvester McCoy as playing wizard Radagast the Brown; other names in the film include Martin Freeman (who plays Watson in Steven Moffat's other popular show Sherlock), Richard Armitage, James Nesbitt, and the return of Cate Blanchett (who played Elven Queen Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings trilogy).

Christopher Eccleston attended a special charity screening of what he has called his most important work, Hillsborough, after which he gave a 30 minute discussion about the film with attendees; the actor had nominated the drama to be shown as part of fund-raising for the Clapperboard Youth Project.

Writer Stephen Gallagher (Warriors Gate, Terminus) will be writing and producing a new drama for Fox Television: The Danger List will be a medical thriller in which a doctor with a complicated past investigates medical abuses, crimes and conspiracies.

The latest star to join the Doctor Who 'family', Sir Michael Gambon (in this year's Christmas special A Christmas Carol), is in the Stage's shortlist for the Greatest Stage Actor; the public poll also includes the likes of Sir Ian McKellen, Sir John Gielgud, Sir Laurence Olivier, Dame Judi Dench and Dame Maggie Smith.

Seventh Doctor Sylvester McCoy has indicated that he would like to return to Doctor Who for a 50th Anniversary special of the show in 2013 if one were to be made.

Speaking to BBC News, the actor said:

The actor expressed his feelings during an interview about his new role in the first ever stage production of Evelyn Waugh's play, Decline and Fall, opening today at the Old Red Lion Theatre, Islington.

Sylvester McCoy has told fans he has been cast as Radagast the Brown in the upcoming film The Hobbit.

Rumours of the Seventh Doctor's involvement in the Peter Jackson film have been around for a while but this is the first conformation from the actor that he has been offered a role in the movie.

McCoy was speaking at the Armageddon Expo in Auckland yesterday, It is understood that McCoy had meetings in Wellington with Jackson and co-producer and co-writer Philippa Boyens last week, where he was offered the role, but that no contracts have yet been signed.

The Hobbit is slated for release in two parts, the first due in 2012. Production is currently delayed due to a dispute involving the New Zealand branch of Actors Equity.

Seventh Doctor Sylvester McCoy has been telling STV of the huge honour he had of being chieftain this year at the Cowal Highland Gathering. He reminisced about his childhood in Dunoon and the origins of his highland costume. He talked about Doctor Who and how he enjoyed the performance of Matt Smith in the role calling him wonderfully strange.

The Press Association has uploaded video from Saturday's appearance of Karen Gillan at Hamleys toy store in Glasgow to promote the release of the Amy Pond action figure. The event was limited to 250 people, which led to a number of complaints from people unable to gain access to the event, somthing picked up by The Glasgow Herald.

Sylvester McCoy has enjoyed a return to his home town of Dunoon in his role as this year’s Chieftain at Cowal Highland Gathering, first reported here. He told the local paper, the Argyllshire Standard, that he is in talks for a major role in the upcoming feature film The Hobbit which is due to start filming in 2011. "I am being cast in The Hobbit," he told the paper, "We're currently in negotiations - there are two of us under consideration. It's not the Bilbo role, but could be bigger."

Doctor Who featured as a question subject in the long running BBC Two quiz show University Challenge on Monday evening. Contestants were asked to identify different versions of the series theme music and state who played the Doctor when they were broadcast. The quiz is available to UK viewers on the BBC iPlayer for the next seven days. International viewers may find it on YouTube.
