Print subscriptions are now open for the two new Doctor Who comic series Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor and Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor, which will be published on July 23, 2014.

Please note that although these titles are available in print and digital in the US, Canada, New Zealand and Australia, due to rights issues, only digital copies will be available in the UK and Eire.

Three-disc Region 1 Blu-ray release of An Adventure In Space And Time announced

A three-disc Blu-ray edition of the drama An Adventure In Space And Time is to be released for Region 1 territories on Tuesday 27th May.

The 90-minute special - which tells the story of Doctor Who's genesis - was made for BBC Two as part of the 50th-anniversary celebrations. Written by Mark Gatiss and directed by Terry McDonough, it stars David Bradley as William Hartnell, Jessica Raine as Verity Lambert, Brian Cox as Sydney Newman and Sacha Dhawan as Waris Hussein.

The first disc will be the Blu-ray of the drama, while the second disc will be a DVD containing the pilot episode of Doctor Who plus the four episodes comprising the first story, An Unearthly Child, and disc three will be a DVD of An Adventure In Space And Time.

The disc one contents have been listed by Blu-ray.com as follows:

Canada changes start time of Christmas episode to show Matt Smith special

Canadian TV channel Space will be broadcasting The Time of the Doctor an hour later than originally planned to make way for the documentary Doctor Who: Farewell to Matt Smith, it has announced.

The Christmas episode will now go out at 9pm Eastern Time/6pm Pacific Time, with the retrospective being added to the schedule and taking the episode's original slot of 8pm (ET)/5pm (PT).

Space's revised Doctor Who programming over Christmas is now currently as follows (all times as ET):
    Thursday 26th December
  • 12.10am – An Adventure in Space and Time
  • 2am – Doctor Who: Farewell to Matt Smith
  • 3am – The Time of the Doctor
  • 4.30am – The Day of the Doctor
UPDATE - 18th DECEMBER: Space has subsequently made more changes to its schedule, including moving the drama An Adventure In Space and Time from late night on 25th December to just into 26th December. The above blocks now show all the correct transmission times at present.

Canadian consumer electronics chains Future Shop and Best Buy Canada have announced an exclusive early release of The Enemy of the World and An Adventure in Space and Time exclusively in Canada on Tuesday, December 10th. For this early release both titles will only be available from these two retailers as well as from their websites. Retail price is $19.99 for each DVD.

The Time of The Doctor - Canadian transmission confirmed

The Time of The Doctor - BBC poster (Credit: BBC/Ray Burmiston)SPACE is the latest channel to confirm a transmission time for The Time of the Doctor, which will premiere in Canada on Christmas Day at 8:00pm (EST).

Other programming for SPACE in the run-up to the festive adventure includes a marathon run of the Christmas specials from 6:00pm on Christmas Eve, plus another chance to see An Adventure in Space and Time; then from 10:00am on Christmas Day itself the channel repeats the 50th Anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor.


The worldwide transmission time for The Time of the Doctor currently looks as follows: United Kingdom at 7:30pm GMT; Germany at 9:35pm CET (8:35pm GMT); Canada at 8:00pm EST (1:00am GMT); USA at 9:00pm EST (2:00am GMT); and Australia on Boxing Day at 7:30pm AEST (9:30am GMT).

Canadian Ratings - Day of the Doctor

Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor was watched by 1.1 million viewers in Canada during its live broadcast at 2:50 p.m. on Saturday, securing the largest audience ever on broadcaster Space.

It was the most-watched entertainment program on Canadian television on Saturday, and among the key demographics it was second only to hockey. Combined with its encore broadcast at 8 p.m, the two-hour special reached nearly 1.7 million viewers overall. The episode is now online now for Canadian viewers at Space.ca.

The episode tied as the most-watched entertainment specialty broadcast in Canada this broadcast year to date. The commercial-free worldwide simulcast of the record-breaking episode made Space the number 1 network overall during the special.

A rare, live weekend edition Space’s flagship original series Innerspace also shattered records drawing 447,000 viewers with its live pre and post specials. With #INNERSPACE trending on Twitter, before and after the screening drew the highest ever audience for INNERSPACE. Throughout the day, Space was the number 1 specialty network with an average audience of 105,000 A25-54 viewers, and 99,000 A18-49 viewers.

SPACE to host live "After The Day Of The Doctor" InnerSPACE special

Canadian broadcaster SPACE has announced details of programming on the 23rd November to coincide with the simulcast of The Day of The Doctor:

The time has come for fans across the world to celebrate 50-years of Dalek-dodging, hair-raising, timey-wimey adventures. Space announced today that the must-see 50th Anniversary DOCTOR WHO episode THE DAY OF THE DOCTOR will air at 2:50 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 23. All 75 minutes of the highly-anticipated special, will air commercial-free on Space in a worldwide simulcast. THE DAY OF THE DOCTOR sees current Doctor (Matt Smith) teaming up with his predecessor, the tenth Doctor, (David Tennant, BROADCHURCH), and a mysterious incarnation of the Time Lord (John Hurt, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), as they embark on their greatest adventure across space and time. During the broadcast, Space is also going to reveal exciting information about its hit original series ORPHAN BLACK, and give viewers a sneak peek at its hotly-anticipated original series, BITTEN.

Day of the Doctor UK broadcast time announced

The time was confirmed just over half an hour ago - at 2.34pm GMT - by the BBC One Facebook page.

This now finalises things for the global simulcast and cinema screenings and means, for example, that it will start at 11.50am the same day in Los Angeles and at 8.50am the next day in Auckland.

UPDATE - 4.35pm GMT: BBC America has since confirmed that it will be showing the episode at 2.50pm ET on 23rd November, and the Canadian channel Space has confirmed that its commercial-free simulcast will also begin at 2.50pm ET that day.

SPACE confirm An Adventure in Space and Time for 22nd November

SPACECanadian broadcaster SPACE have now confirmed that they too will be broadcasting An Adventure in Space and Time on Friday 22nd November at 9:00pm ET, the time slot reported for BBC America yesterday.

The press release re-iterated that the channel would also simulcast The Day of the Doctor the following day, though the time has yet to be confirmed.

United Kingdom: The National Media Museum in Bradford will play host to an 'invasion' of Daleks during the October half-term (26 Oct - 3 Nov). Doctor Who Family Fun will give visitors the chance to learn about the Doctor's foe in the Science of the Daleks event, and will also be able to participate in making a light-up TARDIS, a moving Dalek or even create their own monster to take home. Other events include behind-the-scenes on the making of the show, plus a screening of this year's Nightmare in Silver. Learning programme coordinator Elaine Richmond said: "We hope families will join us this half term to help keep the Museum from the clutches of the dreaded Daleks. We’re very excited about this event and promise a lot of Doctor Who-themed fun and activities in anticipation of the 50th anniversary episode next month."

UK: The University of Central Lancashire are planning a special event on the 16th November: Doctor Who: The Science Behind The Scenes will be a day of presentations about the show and the science it uses, including topics like Science Fact or Science Fiction?, The Psychology of Doctor Who and Is Time Travel Possible? There will also be workshops, make-up, costumes and mask-making, and a area to have memorabilia assessed and valued! [EventBrite]

UK: The popularity of Doctor Who Experience at Cardiff Bay has led to the town council to consider additional parking space in order to ensure that the perceived lack of space is leading to a drop-off in number of visitors to the area. A BBC Worldwide spokesperson commented: "An improvement in parking in Cardiff Bay will support increased visitor numbers but there is no suggestion that visitor numbers at the Doctor Who Experience are falling. We do receive comments from potential visitors and visitors post-event about the lack of parking in the Bay and we welcome the move to improve the situation." [Wales Online, 19 Sep 2013]

UK: Special Events Group Limited are arranging for a mass Doctor Who themed wedding which is expected to take place at the Bloomsbury Ballroom in London on 24th November. [Doctor Who Wedding]

UK: As part of the BBC's plans to simulcast The Day of the Doctor across cinemas in 3D, Cineworld in Crawley Leisure Park aim to host a special day to celebrate, including an appearance by Simon Fisher Becker, who played Dorium in the series. UK: Three fans have set off on a round-trip from Pontllanfraith in Wales to Munich in Germany - each dressed as the Doctor - in order to raise money for Parkinson's research. Richard Shelton said: "Three years ago I took part in a similar rally across Europe to Croatia. We want to raise between £1,000 and £2,000 for Parkinson's UK and have £800 so far." UK: A Dalek ended up "chasing" a pensioner in Southampton as fan Chris Baker was in the process of moving home. Tony Holland had in fact offered to pull the prop along; as Baker observed: "This dalek is worth quite a few thousand pounds and I wasn't sure it would survive being pulled along by a mobility scooter! But Tony was very keen to assist and I saw no harm in giving it a go. He did a great job. We kept having to stop as people wanted to have their picture taken with the dalek." United States: The Norman Public Library in Tulsa is to hold a Doctor Who event on the 4th October to celebrate the show's 50th anniversary. The library website states: "The event is open to all ages and features games, crafts, Doctor Who-themed snacks and a chance to look at and check out the library’s collection of Doctor Who books." US: Fans are attempting to have the Empire State Building in New York lit for the 50th Anniversary; an online petition states: "We are asking the Empire State Building to light up “TARDIS Blue” on November 23rd to celebrate 50 great years of Doctor Who. The Empire State Building regularly uses their spectacular light show to celebrate special moments in pop culture, such as sports events, the 15th anniversary of The Lion King, and Wrestlemania, as well as all the holidays and occasions it’s more known for being lit up for. As far as we know, however, they’ve never lit up to celebrate a SciFi show. What better place to start than the iconic series Doctor Who?" [Change Petitions]

US: Fans from the Tech Valley Center of Gravity in Troy, New York, have built a "TARDIS photo booth" for use at community events; creator Mick Cipollo said: "There was a concept for Troy night out first for a video booth for 30 second clips of 'why you enjoy Troy.' Then Laban Coblentz, founder and chairman of Tech Valley Center of Gravity, thought it should be in a TARDIS. I thought is was a good idea also." [All Over Albany, 27 Sep 2013]

Canada: A candidate in the Edmonton council elections has turned to Gallifrey for inspiration; Jim Gibbon used the Doctor's language to make up his campaign signs, Vote Gibbon Ward 5. Gibbon said: “You need to take your time and see what the person (a candidate) is all about”. [Canoe, 2 Oct 2013]

AU: Actor and fan Santa Strohfeldt has been building his own TARDIS, and aims to have it completed in time for Peter Capaldi's debut at Christmas. His creation can be found in Southport on the Gold Coast. [ABC, 25 Sep 2013]

New Zealand: Another TARDIS builder, Michael Fenton from Inglewood, Taranaki, explains how his prop now helps him to teach school children: "What started as a gimmick for the careers expo became really cool for kids when I was teaching science and mathematics at high school. The whole idea is to show that stuff you're learning at primary and high school can be useful in the real world.
