New Doctor Who Finale Image

The BBC has released a new image for the Doctor Who series 10 finale, which sees Missy (Michelle Gomez) and the Master (John Simm) together for the first time.

The pair are seen either side of the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) as they put their own chilling spin on the poster image that previously accompanied Doctor Who’s 50th-anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor.

Simm will return to Doctor Who as the Master for the first time since New Year’s Day 2010, when he was responsible for the regeneration of the Tenth Doctor. This time the Master will come face-to-face with Missy, his later regeneration, and battle the Doctor during the series’ two part finale which begins next weekend.

The episodes will also feature the return of the Cybermen - including the original Mondasian Cybermen, for the first time in over 50 years - plus Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie) and Nardole (Matt Lucas) in an adventure that promises to change Doctor Who forever.

Doctor Who’s series finale begins in the UK with episode 11, World Enough and Time, at 6:45pm on Saturday 24 June on BBC One, followed by broadcasts around the world. It concludes on Saturday 1 July with Episode 12, The Doctor Falls – an extended, 60-minute episode.

The Eaters of Light

Writer: Rona Munro

A long time ago, the ninth legion of the Roman army vanished into the mists of Scotland. Bill has a theory about what happened, and the Doctor has a time machine. But when they arrive in ancient Aberdeenshire, what they find is a far greater threat than any army. In a cairn, on a hillside, is a doorway leading to the end of the world…

Doctor Who Magazine 513

Wednesday, 31 May 2017 - Reported by Marcus
The next issue of Doctor Who Magazine looks forward to the next four episodes to air, The Lie of the Land, Empress of Mars, The Eaters of Light and World Enough and Time.

Empress of Mars script writer Mark Gatiss tells us why he wanted to bring back the Ice Warriors in his new episode – but are they his all-time favourite Doctor Who monster?
The Cybermen are my favourites and yet I’ve never written for them, but the Ice Warriors are among my favourites: a great monster! I always loved the pride of them, their Viking qualities and the voice. Even though they’ve had so few appearances, they loom so large. So I’d always wanted to bring them back, because I thought I could do something with them. You can just do a bit of worldbuilding, because there’s so much to play with...

Also in this issue:
  • ASK STEVEN: Showrunner Steven Moffat answers readers' questions about the latest series.
  • THE SOUL GARDEN: Part Two of the Doctor and Bill's brand-new comic strip adventure, written by Scott Gray, with art by Martin Geraghty.
  • CRAB ATTACK! This issue’s Fact of Fiction uncovers the secrets of the 1967 story The Macra Terror, which saw the Second Doctor, Ben, Polly and Jamie visit a far-future colony that comes under attack from giant crabs!
  • REVIEWS: DWM reviews the latest TV episodes (Knock Knock, Oxygen, Extremis and The Pyramid at the End of the World) as well as audio and DVD releases in the world of Doctor Who.
  • COMING SOON: Previews of all the latest Doctor Who CD and book releases.
  • PLUS! All the latest official news, the Watcher's column, competitions and the DWM crossword!

Doctor Who Magazine issue 513 is on general sale from tomorrow, and features two covers to choose from: The Ice Warriors and The Cybermen.

The Pyramid At The End Of The World - Introduction

Friday, 26 May 2017 - Reported by Marcus
The BBC has confirmed that this week's Doctor Who episode has been edited out of respect for victims of the Manchester bombing.

A small sequence in the episode, refering to terrorism, has been removed from the programme which will be broadcast this weekend. This is not the first time a episode has been edited because of events in the real world. In 2014 the episode Robot of Sherwood was edited shortly before transmission, following the murder of two hostages by terrorists.

A spokesperson told Radio Times:
Following the tragic events in Manchester, we have made a small edit to this week's episode of Doctor Who.

The remainder of the episode will not be changed and will air on its scheduled slot at 7.45pm on 25 May on BBC1.
