The Doctor Who Appreciation Society, DWAS, has released a limited-run hardback version of their 2022 annual Celestial Toyroom.

 

The hardback book, initially available as a download is A5, runs to over 140 A5 colour pages and contains items covering every story of the 11th Doctor TV era. 

 

Profits from the sale go towards Save the Children and Cancer Research UK.

 

The book is £25 including (UK) delivery with a discount available for DWAS members and can be ordered from the society website.

The Doctor Who Appreciation Society has made available The Celestial Toyroom Annual 2022 to all fans as a free download.
 
This year, the sixth annual in the series runs to over 140 pages and covers the Eleventh Doctor era.
 
Every televised story from The Eleventh Hour to The Time of the Doctor is covered with articles from over 40 different contributors, along with a cover produced especially for the book by Graeme Wey.
 
A limited run print copy will be made available later in the month.

Cosmic Masque Issue 13

The Doctor Who Appreciation Society has released issue 13 of its free-to-download magazine Cosmic Masque.
 
Cosmic Masque is all about the world of fandom and includes articles, interviews, reviews and features on many Doctor Who items including Big Finish releases, podcasts, online games and more.
 
Cosmic Masque is also the Society’s fan fiction journal and this issue includes stories by five different writers, four of whom are new to Cosmic Masque.
 
The magazine can be downloaded from the society website.
 
There is no charge and no email address is required.

Cosmic Masque is edited by Nick Smith and the fiction editor is Stephen Hatcher.

The Doctor Who Appreciation Society is auctioning a piece of Alister Pearson’s artwork from the Keeper of Traken audio book to raise funds for the Anthony Nolan Trust.

This charity was chosen by the Master himself Geoffrey Beevers. 

This print is an XL version and will be signed by Alister of the winning bidder. It can also be dedicated at the buyer's request.

The Doctor Who Appreciation Society has published issue 2 of TARDIS magazine.
 
All sales will benefit ‘MIND’,  the mental health charity. 
 
TARDIS was first published in 1975 and was brought out of retirement by DWAS in 2020.
 
This issue runs to 64 A4 colour pages and includes:
 
• We speak to the Seventh Doctor himself, Sylvester McCoy, and his television co-stars Bonnie Langford and Sophie Aldred, aka Mel and Ace
John Lucarotti’s widow Rolli provides an in-depth insight into the celebrated Doctor Who writer’s life and work

Alister Pearson Auction

The Doctor Who Appreciation Society is auctioning an Alister Pearson print for charity. 
 
In 2019, Alister Pearson had three photographic prints prepared of his artwork for the cover of the charity fundraising book TIME’S CHAMPION, originally published in 2008.
 
One of these prints was given to Sixth Doctor actor Colin Baker.
 
Another is signed by Colin and is up for auction, raising money for a charity supported by him: St Tiggywinkles.
 
The print is exactly the same size as the original painting, measuring 218mm (8.5 inches) in width and 389mm (15.25 inches) in height (not including the thin white margin).
 
The book itself has been reprinted this year, once again raising funds for the British Heart Foundation, in memory of its co-author Craig Hinton.
 
The print can be signed by the artist (with or without a dedication) if the winning bidder wishes him to do so.

The Doctor Who Appreciation Society has released issue 12 of Cosmic Masque, the Society’s e-magazine.
 
Cosmic Masque is about the worlds of fandom, and this issue contains items on recent merchandise releases, Interviews with people involved in the production of Time Lord Victorious comic books and Doctor Who themed Escape Rooms, and as always, new items of fan fiction.

TARDIS Magazine Released

The Society announced in June the return of the original Doctor Who fanzine Tardis. The first edition of Tardis pre-dates DWAS itself and was published in 1975 with the last edition to date being released in 2003. The new magazine, with 60 colour pages, marks the start of the seventeenth volume and content includes:

The Doctor Who Audio Guide

The Doctor Who Audio Guide by Colin John Francis, was first published by DWAS in 2005 and covered every official Doctor Who audio title from 1963 to 2005, with an updated version extended up to 2008 being published in 2010.

The Society is now pleased to publish volume 2 which covers all releases from 2009 to 2013. The guide is fully indexed by title, cast and crew and the index to the second volume is consolidated to cover volume 1 as well.

The book is A4 with a full-colour cover by Nigel Thomas, featuring Tom Baker as the fourth Doctor from The Pescatons.

Released at the same time is an updated version of volume 1 with a new colour cover, also by Nigel Thomas. This revised volume features both Colin Baker’s foreword from the 2005 edition, and Lisa Bowerman’s foreword from the revised 2010 edition.

volume 1 runs to 482 pages and covers releases from 1963 to 2008. Volume 2 runs to 480 pages and covers releases from 2009 to 2013. Titles covered include BBC produced and licensed products and other licensed titles featuring characters from the main TV series.

Each book is sold in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care. Colin Francis choose this charity in memory of a friend he met whilst working as a bluecoat at Pontins in the early 1990s. His friend died overnight from the cancer that he was too proud to tell people he was suffering from.

As well as the standard paperback, DWAS has also produced volume 2 in a limited run hardback with ribbon and dustjacket. Both volumes 1 and 2 can be purchased from the DWAS website now. The price for the paperbacks is £19-99 each and the limited-run hardback is £29-99. Prices include UK delivery. Delivery to Europe and Worldwide will cost extra.

Volume 3 is currently in production. The books are published by Space Rocket Ltd on behalf of the Doctor Who Appreciation Society.
