The BBC have released a video clip of Peter Capalid as the Twelfth Doctor, surprising some of his younger fans and answering some of their questions. The event took place at the Doctor Who Experience on Cardiff Bay, to celebrate ten years since the relaunch of Doctor Who.

Doctor Who has won two awards at the Cardiff Life awards.

The Cardiff Life Awards celebrate the very best businesses in the Welsh capital, as chosen by a panel of independent Judges. Any company in Cardiff can nominate its business for free, and the entrants are judged by an independent panel of Cardiff experts.

The Doctor Who Experience has been awarded Best in Leisure & Tourism at the event, beating the other nominees St David’s Hotel & Spa, Celtic Manor Resort, Radisson Blu Hotel and The Cardiff Story. The Doctor Who Experience opened in the city in 2012 and was updated last Autumn in include the Twelfth Doctor.

Meanwhile Real SFX has been awarded the prize as best Creative in the city. Real SFX is the company set up Danny Hargreaves, who has been providing Special Effects for Doctor Who since 2006. The company beat Ongl Design+Make, Hello Starling, Antti Karppinen, Design Management Partnership, Little Cake Cupboard, S3 Advertising and InspireMe, to take the award.

In the run-up to Christmas the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff will be promoted in cinema and television in a new advert featuring Peter Capaldi as the Doctor:


Props from this year's Christmas Special, Last Christmas, are also being displayed in the Experience's foyer.


The attraction is closed today (16th December), and between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day. It will also be closed on both Mondays and Tuesdays during January.

BBC Worldwide have announced that the popular studio set tours, available as part of the Doctor Who Experience, will continue into December.

The tour of the twelfth Doctor's TARDIS set in studio at Roath Lock is due to recommence on the 24th November after a temporary closure due to operational reasons. Originally planned to run to the end of November, the visits will now continue through to the 14th December.

The BBC recently released a new video for the Experience which introduces viewers to the Gallifrey Museum, which will form part of the new interactive element of the Experience.

BBC Worldwide has announced that the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff will reopen on October 24th.

The exhibition closed in August to allow for a regeneration which will see the addition of a new interactive adventure staring Peter Capaldi as the twelfth Doctor. The exclusive adventure has been specially written for the experience by Joseph Lidster (Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures) and directed by Doctor Who director Paul Wilmshurst

The Doctor Who Experience boasts the world's most extensive collection of original Doctor Who props and artefacts. Highlights include a complete collection of the Doctor's iconic costumes from 1963 to the present day, three full TARDIS sets (including the Ninth and Tenth Doctor's console room), 50th anniversary collection of Doctor Who stars handprints and a whole host of costumes from evil monsters to loyal companions.

Tickets will go on general sale from October 7.

The Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff is to be rebranded to bring it up to date with the arrival of the Twelfth Doctor this Autumn.

The exhibition will close its doors for six weeks from the 1st September, for the exhibits to be updated to reflect the new Doctor. The current walk through experience, where you step through a crack in time and help the Eleventh Doctor will be replaced by a brand new sequence starring Peter Capaldi.

A free Doctor Who exhibition is to open in Wellington this week as New Zealand prepares to welcome the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular.

The Spectacular, hosted by Peter Davison, will see the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra perform music from the series during three shows at the TSB Bank Arena in Wellington over Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd February, with a big screen showing clips from the series while monsters roam the aisles and stage.

And to complement the musical event, an exhibition will be held at Capital E Central in the city. Opening on Friday, Doctor Who: Celebrating 50 Years of Adventures in Space and Time will have a display of original and replica props from the show's history, including the Fourth Doctor's scarf, the First Doctor's cane and a TARDIS. Visitors will also be able to go face to face with a Dalek and knit a section of an extra-long Fourth Doctor-esque scarf that will be created by fans throughout the duration of the display, which is staying in Wellington until Saturday 12th April.

The exhibition is a joint presentation by the New Zealand Festival and BBC Worldwide Australia and New Zealand, and Capital E director Stuart Grant said: Following performances in Melbourne and Brisbane in January and February - as well as in Sydney in 2012 - it is the first time the Symphonic Spectacular has been staged in New Zealand, and Helen Pendlebury, the head of live entertainment at BBC Worldwide Australia and New Zealand, said: A video promoting the Symphonic Spectacular is available to view:

The Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff has now opened its Day of the Doctor exhibit.

Props that feature in the exhibit so far, include:

The National Media Museum in Bradford has finalised details of its free exhibition showcasing Doctor Who fans' devotion to the series over its 50 years.

Following an appeal in the summer for items and stories, hundreds of personal objects were offered by members of the public for Doctor Who and Me: 50 Years of Doctor Who Fans, which explores what it means to be a devotee of the show in its 50th-anniversary year, bringing together items that people around the world have collected, created, drawn, assembled, and bought over the past half-century.

It resulted in hundreds of offers, and exhibition curator Toni Booth said: In addition to a vast array of objects loaned from the public, the exhibition includes fans' stories and experiences relating just how much they love Doctor Who and why, how they have organised themselves, produced fanzines, attended conventions around the world, and now make use of the internet and social media to discuss the programme.

Among the objects on display are the following:

• A model TARDIS made in 1978/9 by then schoolboy Mike Tucker for his own amateur movie - he went on to become a visual effects assistant on the show during the classic era and model unit supervisor when the programme returned

• Rare, original artefacts provided by David J Howe and Colin Young, including the Servo Robot prop from the 1968 adventure The Wheel in Space, artwork from Doctor Who annuals and Target novels (including art by David McAllister and Andrew Skilleter), and authentic 1970s Palitoy and Louis Marx toys
• Some of fan modelling pioneer Julian Vince's originals, including his first Dalek
• Several full-size replicas from the show, including K-9, Daleks, the TARDIS, Cybermen, and various monster masks
• A very rare 1960s Dalek Oracle board game
• A newly-uncovered poster of Tom Baker and scarf demonstrating semaphore
• A postcard from the BBC sent to a young fan in 1975 outlining the instructions to knit a Tom Baker scarf - the resulting scarf, knitted by the fan's mum, is also on display
• Memorabilia from the Longleat 20th-anniversary event, including tickets and a programme
• 1970s/80s collector cards from Typhoo Tea and Weetabix
• An original script from Dragonfire

In a change to the original plan, the display will now run from Saturday 23rd November to Sunday 9th February, and the museum - which also has free entry - has organised a launch party for Friday 22nd November to mark both the exhibition and the show's 50th anniversary. Starting at 7.30pm and open to all, this free event will give people the chance to have a preview of the exhibition and will also have entertainment in the form of performance poetry from Rod Tame, music, and a flash open-mic event for attendees. There is no need to book for the party - just turn up.

Anyone wanting to take part in the open-mic event, in which they can read some of their fan fiction or perform a song or a poem - basically, anything family-friendly that has been inspired by Doctor Who - must let the museum know by e-mailing Sophie Loftus at sophie.loftus@nationalmediamuseum.org.uk by no later than Sunday 17th November. Names will be selected at random and people notified in advance if they have a slot. The open-mic pieces should last no more than three minutes.
