Children in Need 2015

Last night the annual Children in Need appeal evening raised £37,100,687 in order to help children and young people who are disadvantaged in the United Kingdom.

Though there were no specific Doctor Who related presentations this year, a Dalek did appear as part of a sketch by Harry Hill representing the show in television history, and you can still donate to the charity by clicking below:

Doctor Who has often had some involvement with Children in Need, harking back to 25th November 1983 when the 20th Anniversary Special, The Five Doctors was broadcast as part of the appeal (with then Doctor Peter Davison providing the Doctor's coat for auction). Other activities include:

• 1985: a trip to the Blackpool exhibition, and Doctors and companions in studio to present a cheque
• 1993: the first part of Dimensions in Time was shown
• 2003: a special Doctor Who themed edition of Dead Ringers was shown
• 2005: a special mini-episode to lead into that year's Christmas Special, The Christmas Invasion
• 2006: a special Doctor Who themed concert was performed at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff
• 2007: a special mini-episode, Time-Crash, featuring both the tenth and fifth Doctors, taking place before that year's Christmas special, Voyage of the Damned
• 2008: a preview for The Next Doctor
• 2009: a preview for The End of Time
• 2010: a tea-time treat aboard the TARDIS, plus a preview for A Christmas Carol
• 2011: an auction for the Doctor's clothes, plus a preview for The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe
• 2012: an auction for the Doctor's handprints, plus a special mini-episode, The Great Detective, to introduce that year's Christmas special, The Snowmen
• 2013: a chance to win a set visit, plus a preview for The Day of the Doctor
• 2014: a preview for Last Christmas
